CubTutor

Help for parents

Updated August 25, 2026

CubTutor doesn't take your child's phone away. It puts a few questions in front of the apps they already use: the app pauses, asks a question or two, and play continues once they answer. You decide which apps, how many questions, and how long the reward lasts.

Need a person? Email support@cubtutor.com. Tell us your child's first name and roughly when the problem started — that is usually enough for us to find it.

Setting it up

  1. Install CubTutor on your phone and create your account.
  2. Add your child, and choose their grade.
  3. Install CubTutor on your child's phone and sign in with the same account.
  4. On your child's phone, open the Grown-Up Zone, set a PIN, and choose which apps should pause. Apple requires this step to happen on the child's own device — no app can do it remotely.

After that one step, you manage everything from your own phone.

Common questions

Why do I have to pick the apps on my child's phone?

Apple's Screen Time system deliberately keeps app choices private to the device they belong to. A picker running on your phone can only see your apps. This is the same for every app of this kind, not a CubTutor limitation. Once the apps are chosen, everything after that — pausing, unpausing, changing the reward, taking a day off — is done from your phone.

My child answered a question and the app closed

Make sure both phones are on the latest version of CubTutor. If it still happens, email us with the name of the app it happened in.

Nothing is being blocked

Open CubTutor once on your child's phone. If a phone has been off or unused for a while, opening the app re-applies everything. If your child's card on your dashboard says blocking can't be confirmed, that message will tell you what to do next.

How do I take a day off?

On your child's card, choose Day off. Pick how long, and blocking switches back on by itself when it ends. You can also end it early.

How do I change what my child is asked?

Open your child's card and choose Edit curriculum. You can change their grade, the subjects, and — on a subscription — the advanced math track.

Is anything free?

Yes. Grade-level math is free for every child, with quiz breaks every three hours. No child is ever cut off from basic math because a subscription lapsed.

Subscriptions, billing and cancelling

Subscriptions bought inside the app are handled by Apple, and so are refunds. To view, change or cancel one, open the Settings app on your iPhone, tap your name, then Subscriptions. Cancelling there stops future charges; your access continues until the period you already paid for ends.

You can also request a refund from Apple at reportaproblem.apple.com.

Removing a child, or deleting your account

Removing a child from your dashboard releases the shields on their phone and stops any billing tied to them. If you want your account and its data deleted entirely, email support@cubtutor.com from the address you signed up with and we will confirm when it's done.

Your child's privacy

Children never type free text in CubTutor and never see other users. There is no advertising and no third-party analytics, and we do not sell or share your family's information. The full detail is in our Privacy Policy.
